What Easy, Moderate, and Advanced mean here.

These labels are written for foreign travelers using foreign passports, foreign cards, and limited Chinese.

Easy

Direct trains or flights from major cities. English signage is more common, and tourist infrastructure is in place.

Moderate

Requires advance planning. Some Chinese helps but is not essential. Expect buses or transfers beyond the main city.

Advanced

Limited English and mostly Chinese-language booking. Rewards research, flexibility, and comfort with uncertainty.
