West Street (西街) and the town

Treating Longji as part of the cruise

The rice terraces are a separate mountain trip from Guilin. Budget a whole extra day if you want them.

Only seeing West Street

The street is fun at night but touristy. The real reason to stay in Yangshuo is the river and countryside — save time for the Yulong River and cycling.

Fit It Into a Route

Guilin and Yangshuo slot naturally into a southern/southwest China loop. They pair well with Guizhou (neighboring province, more living-culture villages) and drop cleanly into a 10–14 day China itinerary as the scenic, slow-down leg after the big historic cities.
